Today my supervisor screwed up, so I had the day off even though I had wanted to work. (I’ve been working seven days a week lately, doing three jobs, to try to pay off credit card debt.) So no money. But it was kind of nice to relax. I spent a good amount of time exploring Web blogging sites, partly from personal interest and partly because blogging is the project that my group is doing in my intro to IT class (part of my MA program in library and information science). There are a lot of neat sites out there, including this one.
Didn’t do much else except laundry, grocery shopping, and one pet-sitting job (one of my three jobs). Also spent some time studying for the midterm that I need to take (online) next weekend. The study guide was pretty straightforward; there were just a couple of things that I didn’t really remember us discussing, so I e-mailed the teacher about it (and my brother, who is an engineer – he might have some insight to share!).
My Fourth of July was a bust. First I made a couple of boneheaded mistakes at work, then the restaurant we went to didn’t have white zin (wah), then the fireworks we had hoped to see were canceled, probably due to high winds. The only good thing that came out of it was that my friends’ friends, who were at the restaurant, happen to be hairdressers, and they said they would do my hair for FREE, in exchange for future pet-sitting services. They live waaaaay out in the sticks, but it would be worth the “commute” to get some good color services. Color is so expensive normally. They said they would do highlights for me, which would be great because I’m getting tired of the basic black my hair is dyed now. I would love to work my way back toward blonde, which would not be an easy process.
I think I have recuperated from the crush I had on a (married) co-worker. So that’s good news. I should concentrate on the guy I met on eHarmony. We talk via e-mail just about every day, and have some good, deep discussions. The only prob with him is that he lives in New Mexico. And he has two kids, and I’d rather not do the kid thing. Oh well. Nobody’s perfect.
